i can't believe it's not (-insert fatty food here-)!

I've always been adventurous when it comes to food. I am really not picky. By not picky, i do not mean i can stomach eating Fear Factor style. i do not eat insects, lizards and the like. I do not care if it's a delicacy in some province or country. That's why I will never ever win Fear Factor, unless of course it's our own balut. pshhh bring it on!!!

balut?!? sisiw lang yan.

Wow I easily get off tangent. Anyway, lately I've been doing some cooking of my own. (Please pakibaba ang mga kilay.)
i cook. seriously.

I've been surfing the net for some interesting yet healthy recipes and these past few days I have tried making them and experimented a bit. (A bum's life!) The dishes that I made are healthy alternatives to some staple dishes. For example:

* mashed potato = I used cauliflower instead of potato. Just mash it in food processor with some low-fat milk, garlic, pepper, salt and paprika. Then bake it in an oven.

* pasta = zucchini and eggplant pomodoro. Easy to make, just use vegetables instead of pasta. Then make the sauce out of tomato puree, italian seasoning, mushrooms, garlic and onions. Salt and pepper to taste.

* burger = veggie burger/mushroom burger. Instead of beef, make patties out of chickpeas/beans, carrots, onion, bell pepper, oatmeal, some ketchup and spices.

* pizza = Make pizza crust out of oatmeal, chickpeas (aka garbanzos) and some italian seasoning. Really delicious! Then just choose whatever toppings you like: green bell peppers, mushrooms, eggplant, garlic, cheese etc

* muffin/bread = with just white beans, baking powder, olive oil, salt, sugar, and egg white, you can make something that tastes like bread without using flour!

* fries/sweet potato fries = who knew that squash can serve as fries? Just slice it up like fries then bake it in an oven with some salt. Really delicious, tastes like sweet potato!

* sweets/ice cream = put frozen fruits (like banana) in blender with some milk and vanilla. Consistency like ice cream. Frozen grapes can satisfy your sweet tooth too!

* pancakes = try making batter out of oatmeal, baking powder, milk, egg whites, cinnamon and nutmeg.

I am honestly having soo much fun cooking and trying these interesting recipes. However, it's kinda embarrassing that while I can make the healthy alternative, I don't even know how to make its counterpart. Oh well.
