my new obsessions

With the departure of Friends and the cancellation of Arrested Development, I thought that I would never again find shows that would make me laugh so hard my stomach hurt. Then come "The Office" starring Steve Carell of 40-year old virgin fame and Ugly Betty which stars America Ferrera (Now and Then? Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants?). These feel good shows just make my day. I have watched the DVDs like 3 times already and I'm just eagerly awaiting the new batch of DVDs..

Anyway, the things i love about The Office
1) Steve Carell as Michael Scott - when one thinks about what his character does/says, its logical to be annoyed or even hate him but in reality you cant because he's just so funny!

2) Jim Halpert - Hay. I especially love when he mugs at the camera, NR look. what a face
3) Jim Halpert's pranks - putting Dwight's stuff in the vending machine for him to buy one by one, telling Dwight that gaydar is an actual product/instrument, and sooo much more. Walang tatalo sa mga pranks niya halatang bored sa office.

4) Jim and Pam - office romance that's sweet and genuine.. kakakilig ang mga secret glances hahaha
5) the writing/the story - brilliant, witty and engaging

The things I love about Ugly Betty

1) fashion - the show is like Devil wears prada meets Will and Grace meets Desperate Housewives. I love Amanda's clothes and Wilhemina's style classy and clean/neat.

2) Amanda and Marc - they're like Karen and Jack but bitchier and hotter hahaha. I love the way Amanda binge eats and Marc gets asthma attacks when they're nervous about something. I love their one-liners and their campiness.

3) the one-liners -

- "Have you been smoking one of your ponchos?" Amanda to Betty
- "Happy Halloween!" Marc wearing Betty's Guadalajara poncho as his
costume

4) Justin - I love this little gay boy, how he loves Martha Stewart, musicals and Ralph lauren light blue vests. Hahaha. When his dad gives him a jock strap to get him into sports, he's delighted as he mistakes it for a Phantom of the Opera mask.

5) the writing, the story, the campiness - unpredictable show, so many wtf??? twists in the story, i love how they make the "contrabidas" more human and vulnerable.

It's interesting to note that The Office and Ugly Betty are not "original" shows in the sense that they are just American versions. The Office is originally from the UK and Ugly Betty is as we all know from Betty la fea, a Colombian soap opera. But nevertheless, i like the American versions more than the original ones. hehe.

hindi mashado halatang obsesd ako ah. haha. pero promis sobrang benta talaga.
